Background

Swedish Match, the market leader in snus, wanted to update the design on the fourth largest brand on the Norwegian market.

Challenge

Nick & Johnny was launched in 2006. Since then, the packaging design has been through several iterations. Our task was to create a design that would re-establish Nick & Johnny as an alternative product among Norwegian and Swedish snus users.

Solution

We wanted the design to portrait knowledge and craftmanship. Our design solution brings these values to life with a simple but handmade look inspired by sign painting. Each product now carries a unique expression without cannibalizing on the clarity of the brand.
